Stagville Descendants Council
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
PURPOSE
We, the descendants of Stagville Plantation (Cameron-Bennehan Plantation) who were captured,
taken from their homeland, enslaved, and held captive for hundreds of years, believe that we should honor our history and
remember those who suffered and continue to suffer injustices, cruelties, brutalities, inhumanities and exploitations of racism,
economic discrimination and oppression.
DEFINITION
The Stagville Descendants Council is
an alliance, connecting descendents of those once enslaved and other ethnic groups mistreated (Native American and Asian
American Descendants) on the Bennehan Cameron Plantation. This alliance is necessary because, although many descendents
settled in Durham, North Carolina, there were also ancestors who lived on plantation lands in Mississippi and Alabama, and
there are now family members throughout the world.
The Stagville Descendants Council is a subsidiary
of Stagville Society a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Stagville Descendants Council was created to support and
assist the descendants and the communities in which they live. We work to record and preserve the historical records,
produce educational information, and conduct charitable events relating to our family histories and the Bennehan-Cameron plantation
complex.
The Stagville Descendants Council is an auxiliary group that works to preserve the genealogical
history of the descendents that lived, worked, were purchased for, and died on the Bennehan-Cameron plantation complex.
INVITATION
Please help us create, maintain, and update the true historical records.
Any family history, photographs, stories, or other pertinent documents you could share will help us in our efforts to expand
our genealogical database, no matter what your race, creed or nationality may be. We are here to create the true facts, faces,
and reality of those whos blood still run in our veins today.
Information is power and documentation
is proof. Help us record and honor those who came before us. We must commit ourselves to finding the truth of OUR story and
not HIS story.
