   Stagville Descendant’s Council

Descendant’s Reunion Program

On behalf of the Stagville Descendant’s Council, we invite you to our first annual Descendant’s Reunion program held on June 24, 2007 from 11am – 1pm at Cameron Grove Baptist Church located at 816 Berwyn Avenue Durham, North Carolina.

The Stagville Descendant’s Council is an organization comprised of descendants of the enslaved community of Cameron-Bennehan plantation located here in Durham which was the largest antebellum plantation in NC, prior to the Civil War which housed over 900 enslaved people. The Descendants Reunion is a gathering of extended families in the state of North Carolina. We will gather to consolidate our commitment to our families, no matter if they are immediate or extended. We come together to organize and encourage a plan to support the people on the affairs of life, family, respect and responsibility.

We ask you to please join us to celebrate, this program which will include a worship service, gospel program, and Stagville Descendants Council history, followed by a fellowship reception afterwards. This program is open to the public, however seating is limited.
